Recycle and Support Telecare

Now you can support the Telecare Crisis and Caring Line by simply recycling your bottles and cans at a Return-It Express Depot
near you.
After setting up Telecare's Return-It account online, I wanted to give it a try so I went to the nearest Return-It Express Depot with our empty bottles and cans. Besides, Kathleen was sick of seeing them on our deck!
It was so easy! I got some recycling bags and separated our cans and bottles and took them in. It turns out the Return-It staff will separate them for you, so I didn't even need to do that.
When I got there I just went to the express check-in kiosk, put in Telecare‘s admin phone number which is 604-852-4058
(if you want to support Telecare this is the phone number you will use too) and entered the number of labels that I needed. I stuck the labels on my bags, and put them in the designated area. That was it!
A few days later I got an email from Return-it saying that $11.27 was being donated to Telecare because I was the person who set-up the account.
If you have any questions about the process, please see the Frequently Asked Questions on the Return-It website.

Gary and Jane represent a growing mental health crisis in Canada—one marked by hidden loneliness across all ages. Nearly 30% of Canadians report frequent feelings of loneliness which is a major contributor to depression and emotional distress. While Gary isolates in silence and Jane hides her pain behind good grades, both could benefit from intentional peer support. Services like Telecare and chat-based mental health support offer a lifeline to those who struggle to speak their pain aloud. For many, text and phone support lines reduce distress, offering compassionate care and hope.

Youth in Canada are facing rising rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Plus, social media overuse, academic pressure, and isolation contribute to many mental health struggles. Yet, access to digital support is helping bridge the gap. Early success stories confirm that chat-based emotional care can be life-saving. As the mental health landscape shifts, tools like Telecare’s chat support are essential for reaching youth where they are—with compassion and care.

When my husband passed away three years ago, I lost more than a partner—I lost my sense of purpose. My name is Margaret, and I’m 72 years old. I spent nearly 50 years married to the love of my life, building a home, raising children, and sharing every part of my day with him. When he was gone, the house we filled with laughter and memories became unbearably quiet.
