At Telecare Crisis and Caring Line we seek to care about hurting and distressed people and aim to show God’s love to our callers, by taking the time to empathetically listen to their expressions of stress and pain.
We strive to truly understand what the caller is experiencing and attempt to meet the caller where they are at in their pain. We believe that empathy is to go beyond just feeling bad for what another person is experiencing; it is to try to feel what the other is feeling from their perspective.
Because all of the Telecare volunteers are Christian, we are very happy to pray or read from Scripture with our callers. Let us know if that is something you would like.
We are not counsellors, but we are trained listeners. We also have access to referrals with many different numbers for counselling agencies, and other organizations or support groups as required.
The service is confidential and free.
If you need to talk to someone call us
· You don’t need to be in a crisis to call. Life can hurt, circumstances can be overwhelming, grief can be suffocating, loneliness can be all consuming and distress can be ever present. Talking about your problems won’t make them go away, but it will definitely lighten the load.
· In the new year Telecare will be making some changes. In addition to being known as a crisis line we will be promoting that we are a caring or help line for anyone needing emotional support.
At Telecare we humbly desire to be a listening ear for those who need someone who will listen.
